A bit about us.

We are a small family run business that have been taking care of our customers’ dogs for over thirty years. During this time we have developed a wealth of knowledge in caring for many different dog breeds and personalities affording us the ability to give them exemplary care and understanding. Being a small establishment we are able to provide each boarder with more individual time allowing us to build trusting relationships that create a comfortable atmosphere for our frequent furry visitors.

Inside and outside.

With spacious runs that can house up to three medium sized dogs from the same family, along with an adjoining larger outside area, each boarder has plenty of room to run about and burn off energy throughout the day. Each of our runs is safe and secure, where boarders can see each other but cannot make physical contact with other dogs to ensure their own safety. The kennels is well-insulated and is always heated during the Winter months. During warmer times the daily open access to their external runs allows for plenty of cooling fresh air.

Our canine country retreat provides a natural environment for your dog’s enjoyment. Whilst peak seasons allow for short walks through our meadows, all walks are interesting and varied, ranging from strolling to paddling, or just anticipating that passing squirrel or peacock.

We offer a wide variety of foods (from fresh meat, biscuit mixers, complete dog food, tins and pouches and treats such as Denta sticks, gravy bones, Schmackos, a variety of chews etc.) so that even the pickiest of pooches is satisfied!

Our Philosophy

We believe that managing stress is the key to success!

Here at Bishopston kennels we think it is important to make sure our guests’ stay is comfortable and that we cater for the different personalities that board with us. Every dog has its own character and behaves differently in a kennel environment, so paying close attention to their behavior (especially first time boarders) and responding to their needs is a necessity. Sometimes our furry friends get up to all manner of mischief, so it is essential that they are closely monitored throughout the day.

We have created a daily routine that is structured in a fashion that engages our visitors in routine actions. Actions that create anticipation of interesting things to come. Be it morning release of our peacocks from their adjoining pens to having their morning sheep milk and biscuits served alfresco in the Summer! Dogs are creatures of habit and a set routine helps them to adapt to being away from home.

It is important to note that anyone wishing to board their dog with us is open about their dog’s behaviour so that we can make the right decision whether they are suitable to stay in a kennel environment. Some dogs are not suitable for boarding and can be negatively affected during their stay.
